Deactivating Specifico preserves its data, while uninstalling it permanently deletes the plugin's stored configuration and product specification data. Export your setup before uninstalling if you may need it again.

Deactivation versus uninstall

Deactivation stops Specifico from running but keeps its data in the WordPress database. Use deactivation when you are troubleshooting, temporarily disabling the plugin, or expect to activate it again.

Uninstalling removes the plugin and runs its cleanup process. As of Specifico 1.0.6, that cleanup permanently deletes:

  • plugin options and settings;
  • cached transients;
  • specification tables and groups;
  • mapping rules stored with the plugin settings; and
  • per-product specification data.

This distinction is intentional: temporary deactivation is reversible, while uninstalling provides a clean removal.

Export before uninstalling

If you may reinstall Specifico or move the configuration to another site, create an export first:

  1. In WordPress admin, go to Specifico → Export / Import.
  2. Include per-product specification data if you need product-level values and overrides.
  3. Download the export and store it somewhere outside the WordPress installation.
  4. Confirm that the export file is available before uninstalling the plugin.

See Export & Import for the complete backup and restore workflow.

Full uninstall cleanup was added in Specifico 1.0.6. See the Specifico changelog for the complete release notes.
